Spark clear aligners, monitored from home.
Custom-made invisible aligners that gradually straighten your teeth — supported by DentalMonitoring so most of your treatment happens remotely, not in the chair.
What Spark aligners are
Spark is Ormco's clear-aligner system — a different brand from Invisalign. You wear a series of custom-fitted, removable aligners — each one shifting your teeth a small amount toward the final alignment. Spark aligners are typically worn 20–22 hours a day; you take them out only to eat, drink (anything but water), and brush your teeth.
What makes the Oracare approach different is DentalMonitoring — a small camera attachment for your phone that lets you scan your teeth weekly from home. The app reviews your scan against the plan, tracks your progress, and tells you when you're ready to move to the next aligner. That means fewer in-clinic appointments and a faster response if something needs adjusting.
What Spark treats well
Spark works for most mild-to-moderate alignment cases — including:
- Crowding — teeth overlapping or not fitting in the arch
- Gaps and spacing between teeth
- Mild bite issues — crossbite, deep bite, open bite
- Relapse after previous orthodontic treatment
- Adult ortho — for patients who didn't want braces as teenagers
For more complex cases — severe skeletal discrepancies, significant rotation, certain bite corrections — Spark may not be the right option. We'll tell you that at your consultation rather than start a treatment that won't deliver. In those cases we refer you to an orthodontist who can plan a fixed-appliance approach.
What to expect
-
Visit 1
Consultation + records. We discuss your goals, photograph your smile, take a digital scan with our 3Shape TRIOS, and capture an OPG. A records-package fee is taken at this visit (one flat amount — we'll confirm the figure when you book). If you proceed with treatment, it's credited back against your aligner case.
-
Visit 2
Treatment plan review. Spark generates a 3D preview of how your teeth will move across the treatment. We walk through it together so you see the projected result before you commit. If you proceed, your deposit is taken and we order your aligners — they arrive in 2–3 weeks.
-
Visit 3
First fit + DentalMonitoring setup. We fit your first set of aligners and walk you through the DentalMonitoring app and scanner. From here, most of your treatment happens from home.
-
At home
Weekly scans via the app. You scan your teeth once a week through the DentalMonitoring app. The system reviews your scan against the plan and gives the go-ahead for the next aligner (typically every 1–2 weeks). If something's not tracking right, we get a notification and can adjust your plan early.
-
Mid-treatment review
One in-clinic review at the midpoint. Usually 3–4 months in. We check progress in person, take new photos, and adjust the plan if needed.
-
Final visit
Final fit + retainers. We confirm the result, take final records, and fit you with retainers to hold the new alignment. Teeth can drift back after orthodontic treatment — nightly retainers long-term are essential to hold your result.
Common questions
How long does treatment take?
Most cases finish in 6–18 months, depending on how much your teeth need to move and how consistently you wear your aligners. Simple cases (mild crowding, small gaps) can finish in 6–9 months. More complex cases run to 18 months. We give you an estimated timeline at the consultation once we've seen your scan.
Do you offer fixed braces?
No. We offer Spark clear aligners only. For cases that need a fixed-appliance approach — usually complex bite corrections, significant skeletal issues, or severe rotation — we refer to an orthodontist. We'll tell you honestly at your consultation if Spark isn't the right tool for your case.
Is Spark better than other clear aligners?
Spark and other major clear-aligner systems share the same core mechanism — a series of custom removable aligners worn in sequence. Spark uses a slightly clearer, stain-resistant material, and DentalMonitoring's remote-tracking approach is what we believe gives Oracare patients the smoothest experience day-to-day. The right approach for your case depends on your alignment goals — we'll discuss it openly at consultation.
Will it hurt?
Each new aligner causes mild pressure for the first 1–2 days as your teeth shift — most patients describe it as tightness or a dull ache rather than sharp pain. Over-the-counter pain relief helps if you need it. By day 3 you usually forget you're wearing them.
How much does Spark cost?
A records-package fee covers your initial consultation, scan, photos and OPG — if you proceed with treatment, that amount is credited back against your aligner case. From there, the full cost depends on case complexity (single arch vs both arches, length of treatment). A deposit is taken on commencement; the balance runs through interest-free in-house payment plans. We quote in full at your consultation before you commit. See Payment options.
Will my health fund cover it?
Most extras policies cover a portion of orthodontic treatment, though limits and waiting periods vary. We claim through HICAPS at the chair so you only pay the gap. Bring your fund details to the consultation and we'll check what's available before the case starts.
What if I lose an aligner?
Stay on the previous aligner and contact us. We can usually get a replacement quickly from Spark — but skipping ahead to the next aligner before the current one's full wear time risks the treatment going off-plan.
Cost & funding
Records package — credited if you proceed. The initial consultation, scan, OPG and photos are bundled into a records-package fee. If you commence aligner treatment, that amount is credited back against the case. A deposit is taken on commencement; the balance runs through interest-free in-house payment plans. HICAPS on the spot for your fund's ortho rebate. Full detail on Payment options.
